Note:
The photo imagery was extracted from various media by the artist for the film footage he created for the recent Confessions of Zeno theatre work. Zeno Writing is the title of the film created for the theatre work and also as an independent film for Documenta XI. The negatives provided by the artist were processed throught the further stages of positives, transfer to gelatin sheets, aquatinting and etching by master-printer Randy Hemminghaus at the facilities of the Print Department of the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS) in Johannesburg.

The proofing was done with Randy Hemminghaus in the artist’s studio in August 2002 on his Taschen etching press. Further proofing was done on a Sturgess etching press at David Krut Workshop which was established during the recent visit by Randy Hemminghaus to Johannesburg.

The prints were editioned by Randy Hemminghaus and assistant, Christopher Clarke at Galamander Press, New York during September and October 2002.

William Kentridge is artist-in residence for the latter part of 2002 at Columbia University, New York. In conversation with Catherine McCrickard at David Krut Fine Art, New York identification tags were given to the prints as follows:
Acanthus Railing, Smoke, Typewriter, I Promise my Wife I'll Stop, Smoking today at 2pm, Chorus, Ponytail, Panther, Woman on a sofa, Smoke and building.

All the prints are from a single copper plate, with the exception of Ponytail which has the drypoint marks on a second copper plate.e
