Éditions Dilecta present the book Ilya Kabakov, Drawings / Dessins, which brings together for the first time Ilya Kabakov’s drawings from 1960 onwards. These drawings, which shows all the periods of the work of the artist as well as all the techniques he uses, are enlightened by a text by Jean-Hubert Martin, MONUMENTA’s curator, who had introduced Ilya Kabakov’s work throughout Europe and the world, especially during the exhibition « Les Magiciens de la terre » (Centre Georges Pompidou et Grande Halle de la Vilette, Paris, 1989).

The limited edition of this book is composed of 35 copies numbered from 1 to 35 and of 15 artist’s proofs numbered from EA 1 to EA 15. On this occasion, an original drawing, specially chosen by the artist and gathering several of the favorite motifs of Ilya Kabakov (the flight, the angel, the fly, the landscape, the clouds…), has been reproduced at Atelier Hiver, Paris. Each drawing has then been individually hand-colored and signed by the artist.

Ilya & Emilia Kabakov, 12" Picture Vinyl in transparent plastic bag and black maxi sleeve, edition 25, signed and numebred, 2014

€ 320,-

Legendary installation artist Ilya Kabakov remembers, how in his childhood he met a huge black bird at an art school and later “the hare at the academy of fine arts”. Like his wife Emilia he never believed in communism – art has always been the realm to escape from the nightmare of social reality. His comment on “Immortality” is contrasted with the original voices of the famous “communal kitchen” (1991). Recorded 2010 in Zug/Switzerland. (germ., engl. russ.)
